By now you’ve likely read the news that Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, has resigned in the wake of reports about possible illegal dealings with foreign governments.
One of the most consistent refrains from Trump’s fandom is that Hillary Clinton should be in prison because she used a private email address while she was Secretary of State. I was wondering how these same fans would react to Manafort’s resignation and if there would be similar calls for his imprisonment.
So I turned to r/the_donald, the now-infamous Reddit community known for hosting the most obsequious Trump followers. I found a thread, with the staid headline “Donald J. Trump Statement,” that announced the resignation. So how did r/the_donald react to what any objective observer would consider disastrous news for Trump?
