I can think of at least one argument for why Instagram doesn’t lift its ban on links. If it did, then every brand/publication would start treating it like Facebook and posting links to every article it puts out. And because a brand is not going to have great photography for every article it produces, then Instagram is going to be flooded with bland stock photography and Getty images. With its current ban on links, most brands are at least somewhat incentivized to only post occasionally and only when they have a visually arresting image.
